A simple hello could lead to a million things

The time has finally come after hours and hours of piecing together this little blog of mine to write something. I was thinking this was a simple thing and boy was I wrong.

Here I am hours and multiple breaks later finally getting to begin what I thought I would have finished hours ago. I suppose I could have rushed right through it and made it a bit more simple but then it wouldn’t have met my expectations. Kind of like life I suppose. It isn’t always simple either and if we rush right through it not expecting it to take any of our time or for any obstacles to arise then we won’t ever truly get to reap the benefits of life’s greatest gifts and/or lessons through failure and success.

How about an introduction?

I am Ashley and I’m married to my handsome hubby who I love and thank God every day for blessing me with. He truly balances me out, knows how to always make me laugh when I need it most, encourages me always, believes in my wildest dreams, cheers me on when I feel like I am getting it all wrong and puts up with my cover hogging self daily with little to no complaints because he’s just that good to me. 43383536_10156984985058470_2524011933212868608_nI am a mother to FOUR amazing children who truly are my world and make me the mother that I was born to be and God created me to be. Now let me go into a little more detail here to cover some ground to avoid any confusion for future posts. I have BIRTHED 3 babies. I am a mother to FOUR. I know I said I am simple and I am but bare with me here for just a second. Our story is a special one and one God had his hand on long before we ever knew it. When my husband and I met we each already had a child. He had a son who was 6 months old and I had a daughter who was 11 months. My daughters father tragically passed away when she was just 8 weeks old. Once my husband and I were married a few years later we had two children together and two became four. We don’t use the word step or anything of that sort because all our kids have ever known are each other.  My daughter is blessed to have my husband raise her as his own and she now knows she has a dad in heaven and her dad here on earth too.  Aiden, calls me his bonus mom and we have a very close relationship too. We are one big, happy, loud, hilarious family full of LOVE! So as I blog about our journey and you see me say bonus son or see 3 of the 4 children you will understand why. Our time is shared with Aiden and he is not homeschooled while the others are. Blended families come with their own set of challenges but I truly believe if you want what is best for the child you will always make it work. Love is love and to me love will always win. It hasn’t always been easy but over the course of 9 years we have learned what works for us. “Parenting is not a competition. We are all on the same side. The side that loves and supports our children.”

I recently became a homeschool mama and it is hands down the best thing we have ever done for our family! We have found such joy and SIMPLICITY in it. Our oldest Makyla is in the 5th grade, Aiden is in public school in the 4th grade, Kolten is in 1st and then in Pre-K we have Tinsley so not technically in school just yet but we are still working on all sorts of schooling since she barely missed the cut off AND she loves to learn with her siblings.

Sunday after church I taught the kids to make homemade apple pie. They helped me do it all; from the prep work to the clean up because #lifeskills. Oh and you can’t live in Texas and not have apple pie without homemade Bluebell vanilla ice-cream. You just can’t. I taught the kids that important lesson too.43314852_10156982970673470_1558784953322307584_nWe live in the South- TEXAS to be exact where everything is bigger and by that I mean the mosquitoes. Here it is October and currently we are still in the high 90’s swatting mosquitoes in the evening while fighting off humidity all day making it nearly impossible to do anything with our hair other then the oh so famous mom bun. But just wait because in just a few short days we are expecting to get some cool, crisp fall like weather and we can finally bust out the pumpkin spice lattes, big oversized sweaters, curl our hair, and be basic moms for longer then TWO whole days because we are getting temperatures in the HIGH 60s. Yes I am serious. We are thankful. This is FALL YALL!

*Photo of the famous mom bun, fall sweater that I may have worn when it reached mid 80s two weeks ago and when my friend found me an oh so famous RAE DUNN mug I have wanted. This is the face though that we all make when true Fall hits for longer then a full day in Texas. Thats just how exciting it truly is.*

Jesus is my jam. My faith is what gets me through it all. My faith is always in between my fear and my problems and let me say behind the makeup, supermom face, and do it all attitude I do have real problems just like the rest of you (if you are reading this and don’t have problems then you are a robot and I will need to figure out how to add the captcha) The only way I get through anything and everything is knowing we have a good, good God who loves us so so much and gives us love and grace time and time again. I won’t sit here all day and preach to you but I will tell you this one thing, HE LOVES YOU. Regardless of your past mistakes or your sins you have made just call out to him for forgiveness and he will forgive you because YOU are a child of God and he loves you just the same as he loves me. Pretty stinkin incredible.

I think I covered the basics: Hubby, Kids, Etsy shop, Texas skeeters and Jesus.

I am so excited for you to follow along with me as I will be sharing with you the adventures of my family of 6, traveling, how I live simple in a chaos filled world, homeschooling, exciting things for my business, recipes and so much more!

  2. I could not refrain from commenting. Exceptionally well written! Does your blog have a contact page?
I’m having problems locating it but, I’d like to shoot you an email.
I’ve got some creative ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing.
Either way, great site and I look forward to seeing it develop over time.
I have been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be
a lot more useful than ever before. http://foxnews.net
