Family blog, Homeschooling

RV Fixer Upper

Can you believe it’s already April? I sure can’t. As a child all I ever wanted was to grow up and it seemed that the days would drag on forever waiting for that next birthday. Now as an adult I just wish time would slow down. I feel like the days pass by entirely too fast and even more so since I became a mom almost 11 years ago. Wow that makes me feel old just typing out that sentence. Can anyone else relate??

So, what have WE been up to? Well funny you asked because boy do I have an answer for you. We have some pretty BIG NEWS to announce so I figured why not make a blog post to let the world in on our not so little secret!

Drumroll please…

Our family has been preparing for major minimalism as we prepare to head out on an adventure around the world. Ok, well maybe not all of the world but we will be traveling a ton so it kinda counts right?

We have listed our 3000 sq. ft house for lease and are downsizing to a 300 sq. ft RV.

Yes you did just read that right!  Let me dig into this for a moment as I am sure many of you are trying to wrap your head around that sentence and are perhaps curious how this even came about for our family of 6.

My husband lost his career of 10+ years with an oil and gas company back in September. After regaining employment with another oil and gas company (BIGGEST BLESSING EVER) in November he has been blessed for the opportunity given and travels weekly for his job. After a few short months of figuring it all out he has realized that he really needs to be local to where his job takes him weekly in order to perform to the best of his ability. Since I homeschool now we decided it was the perfect time to pack up and move out.  After all, what good is 3000 sq. ft if you can’t be together as a family? In our eyes being together as a family while supporting my husband in his career is worth the sacrifice of space.

Of course we know there will be challenges and many sacrifices in this transition but as a whole we are honestly excited for the adventures that lie ahead.

We have spent many long days that turned into exhausting weeks renovating an RV to make our home. Not just any RV though, a 1985 travel trailer that we got from my sister and brother in law. Interior design has always been a passion of mine so I knew I wanted to tackle this project-my biggest project to date and with the help of a super handy husband I knew we could complete this together.

And my goodness yall we did.

I figured I would share a few progress photos so you can see just how far this RV has really come. I had one goal in mind-create a space that feels cozy and at home while maximizing storage space! Guess what? We did just that!

Stay tuned as we prepare to VLOG about our exciting AND challenging times as a family of 6 living in a small space while embarking on our biggest ADVENTURE yet!

I figured a few of you may want to snag a few of these items for yourself whether its for an upcoming renovation to your RV or house. Click on the direct link to purchase which if you do I will be compensated something small for the promotional purposes.
