A day in the life of quarantine

With the kids at home and as a former homeschool mama I wanted to compile a list of activities to do indoors in hopes to keep your kids screen free while having fun and even learning along the way!

1. DIY volcanoes

Honestly what kid doesn’t like seeing something explode? This easy recipe is made with household staples and will keep them busy indeed. We chose to play some background music all about volcanoes and found an audio book on one too!

What you need: play dough, vinegar, baking soda, food coloring (optional) cookie sheet and a cup or object to use as your base!

Have your child choose their play dough and wrap it around the object of base. Let them assemble this themselves as it promotes fine motor skills and keeps them busy. Next, have them sprinkle the baking soda on top of the volcano. Finally, mix vinegar and food coloring to pour over the top and viola you have your erupting volcano!

2. DIY play dough: Speaking of play dough we used to make it ourselves when we were little and this recipe is again an easy one using household items! I’ve posted the materials and directions below from an old cookbook my mama still has!

3. Carwash for toys: So this is one that’s a win win because not only does it keep your kids busy but it gets their toys clean too!

What you need: Bucket (use anything you have) warm water, dish soap of choice (we use a cap full of thieves) any toys that need cleaning, scrub brushes or old toothbrushes. We call this the car wash as the toys get a good wash and dry too!

4. Freeze dance: An oldie but a goodie! Grab a playlist of your kids favorite tunes and get them wiggling. This is a great way to burn off some energy while being indoors!

There you have it, a few fun and free activities to keep your kids busy during the quarantine! Want more ideas? Simply subscribe to my blog and I’ll email you a list of activities!
